Ken and I have now been together for 51/2 years, and have been happily (and legally) married for nearly 3 of those years...during that time he has had 2 granddaughters, lost his father, begun helping me care for my elderly parents, helped me with the ministry and with the opening of my art studio, and we have enjoyed every minute of our life together...he loves his job in Greensboro, where he has worked for many years, and we both live a very open life as out men and as a married couple in both his world and in mine...
We are very involved in the lives of all six of our children and of our four grandchildren, and we see them all regularly...they are all doing well, and we are grateful for every one of them, and for their constant support of us...family is everything...
METRON is now well into its 4th year, and I love it and am so proud of it...ministering there is a continual pleasure, and I am so grateful for the people who have continued to follow me, and still hear my voice...
Can't believe how time has flown, but life is good and we are blessed...
Thank you all for your wonderful support for these last seven years...
I love you all!

ReplyDeleteI remember and to be honest with you I possibly knew that before you. I was so excited for you. I cannot imagine the daily struggles of living a life you really were not meant to live. Now you are free and happy that is all that matters. I honestly believe ( actually I know, but for the sake of saying so) my father (rip) was gay, but due to the way he was raised he had to keep it a secret as well. I hate that he had to live the life he did not really want, but in the end I got a great father. What a sacrifice one makes when they cannot live the life they are intended to live. Yes I said intended because I know you are born this way. I am glad you are happy and that is what life is about right?
Thank you so much <3

ReplyDeleteAnd it was because of this life-changing act on a worldwide stage that I was able to meet you...so I guess both of our lives changed that day. Thanks for blessing me daily.

ReplyDeleteJim Swilley, thank you so much for sharing this. My partner Gregory is an Anglican (Episcopal) priest and came out in his church in 2001. He was there from 1991-2013. His congregation was so supportive as he was married with three children. We have been together since 2006 and I was welcomed with open arms. You and Ken Marshall are in inspiration in countless ways and I am blessed to be connected with you both. Love and light is sent your way. <3 <3

ReplyDeleteI remember so well, Jim. I remember our conversations leading up to this day. I remember watching live, although with a spotty signal. I remember your courage. Today I couldn't be more proud of your decision to practice what you preached, live your truth, and be a public example for so many others. Through many dangers, toils, and snares we have already come over the past 40 years when two teenagers destined to become brothers met on the first day of college. I love you and Ken, and I am looking forward to our annual autumn rendezvous at Pinebox in just a few days . . . . <3<3
Love you always, bud ❤️<3
